A Sailing Charter in Ibiza and Formentera - An Unforgettable Holiday
- By: D. BROWALL
Your sailing charter in Ibiza and Formentera could be the most exciting vacation in your life. Ibiza, also known locally as Eivissa, is situated along the Mediterranean Sea. It geographically belongs to Spain's Balearic Islands. Adjacent to Ibiza is the island of Formentera. It is the smallest island in Balearic measuring only 9 miles long. The two islands have a distance of three nautical miles from each other. In Spain, Ibiza and Formentera forms the Pine Group of Islands. The two islands are both full of crafts and festivals. If you want your sailing charter in Ibiza and Formentera to be more stirring and interactive, experience the two islands' cultures and traditions. In Formentera for example, folk music is part of the local's daily activities. They also incorporate the ball pagès folk dance in their folk music especially during special occasions such as annual festivals and fiestas. The most noteworthy fiesta celebrations in Formentera include the feasts of Nostra Senyora del Carme (held every July 16), Sant Francesc Xavier (December 3), Santa Maria (August 5), El Pilar (October 12), and Sant Ferran (May 30). However, the most impressive of all festivities is the feast of Sant Jaume (the island's patron saint). It is celebrated every July 25.
On the other hand, the island of Ibiza is in contrast from Formentera because it usually hosts modern festivities. This is because Ibiza has a very active nightlife and most of its tourists and visitors are party animals. Especially, the areas of Ibiza Town and Sant Anton are the typical place for parties and modern gala. Some of the most famous nightclubs and resto bars in the island include Pacha, Space, Amnesia (famous around the country because of its foam parties), Eden, and Privilege (considered as the world's largest party club).
The island of Ibiza has 4 regions. These include Santa Eulària des Riu, Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Sant Joan de Labritja, and Sant Antoni de Portmany.
Spain's Sant Josep de sa Talaia is a first class municipality. This place can be an ideal destination when you are having your sailing holiday in Ibiza and Formentera. Sant Josep de sa Talaia was named after a rugged and beautiful mountain situated in its vicinity. Its size is approximately 154 km² and is in Ibiza's southern portion. Its coastline's length is roughly around 80 kilometers. You can have an unlimited fun with its blue and crystal-clear beach waters. Some of its beaches have been judged by the European Union as one of the most spectacular all across Europe. These include the beaches of Cala Vadella, Cala Bassa, and Cala Comte.
